Specializing in American Black Walnut only, fancy grades only
As is illustrated by the pictures, I sell blanks in four grades:
Semi-Fancy – (Two-piece only)
Fancy
Extra-Fancy
Exhibition
The pictures are meant to give a general illustration of the grades. Each blank is different and is graded and priced differently. My inventory changes constantly. I will probably no longer have the blanks shown on the website. The blanks pictured are not “the best,” picked out to put on the web. They are typical of what I sell. Pictures often times do not do justice to the color and figure of the blank.
A Semi-Fancy stock will have grain characteristics that set it apart from a plain stock. It will usually have figure only on one side of the blank.
Fancy grade will have figure on both sides of the blank, although one side (usually the right-hand side) may be much more predominant than the other. For example, one side may be extra-fancy; the other Semi-Fancy yielding an overall grade of Fancy.
Extra-Fancy is a full-figured stock on both sides of the blank.
Exhibition grade is a one of a kind blank with extraordinary figure and color, often times being set apart by fiddleback along with crotch figure.
In the case of an Exhibition grade fiddleback blank, the stripe will be predominant, the full length of the blank, and equal on both sides of the blank.
My blanks are Kiln-dried in long run gunstock kilns (not a lumber kiln) and are laid out properly. You will not get a blank from me that is high in moisture.
Let me know what you are looking for, what your budget is, and I will send you the best stock your money can buy.
My butt stocks are sold in two lengths: 16 inch for pump-type guns and 18/20 inch for doubles.
My rifle blanks are 32 to 36 inches long.
I will often times have some small blanks for 94 Winchester-type guns and some oversize blanks for Schuetzen-style guns. I also have a few Mannlicher blanks.
Quantity prices are available.
